INTRO TO SCOTTISH WINTER CLIMBING

This two-day course, based in the Cairngorms, is suited to people with limited winter climbing experience. You will learn about route choice, assessment of conditions, ice axe use, protection, belaying, and construction of anchors and will climb some superb routes in snow and ice conditions. Depending on experience you are likely to be on grade I, II and possibly III terrain over the two days.

Ice axe, crampons, harness and helmet can be hired if necessary.

ACCOMMODATION & MEALS

Two night's self catering accommodation is provided (night prior to the course and the night of the course) at a youth hostel. Please arrange your own food.

SCOTTISH WINTER CLIMBING

This two-day course is suited to those who have done some winter climbing and are keen to develop their skills under the guidance of an expert. The focus of the two days is on climbing intermediate routes and equipping climbers with the skills to climb well and safely in winter. Typically we might spend time on grade II, III and IV ground on this course.
